Jen Wilkin's most recent book, In His Image: 10 Ways God Calls Us to Reflect His Character, answers a question I didn't expect. It answers the question: What is God's will for my life?
He wills us to be like the very image of God.
If you're anything like me, I asked this question for 15 years, and I connected it with wanting to know what God wanted me to do. I wanted to know what he wanted me to do when I grew up. I wanted to know what college he wanted me to go to. I wanted to know who he wanted me to marry.
These are all good things to bring to God. We can look to his Word and discern what is good and acceptable to him so that we walk in a way worthy of our calling of faith. But Wilkin convinces us of a better question to ask which ultimately answers our first question. Instead of asking what God's will is for us, we should ask: Who Should we be?
Wilkin's book explores the attributes of God we should imitate unlike her former book, None Like Him, which explores the attributes of God we try to conform to but can't. God wills us to be like him, and in reading this book, he will ignite or strengthen our desire to be transformed more into his image.
This book is great to study alongside a group of men or women and can be purchased below.
